Sometimes you hear the best music on t.v.. I fell asleep watching David Letterman and woke up at the very end of the show to hear this lovely new song by Sia. But watch for her reaction at the end of the song when Dave comes onstage. So sweet!
I couldn't find a clip of The Killers performing "Human" on Saturday Night Live last week, which really turned me on to the song, and most of the YouTube clips are disabled so you'll have to settle for this (and ignore the second song on this clip). By the way, in the great lyric debate I'm on the side of "Are we human, or are we denser?" and not "...or are we dancers?".
Sia, so sweet.... i completely agree with you.. thank you for sharing this moment of bliss..
I was a cynic when I read your pronouncement of her reaction - until I watched the clip. "So sweet" is so accurate.
I love the signing too, with the coloured gloves and black dress. Kind of modern and retro all at once. And actual joy instead of the usual grumbles we see superstars reacting with... thanks for posting!
A Wikipedia search proves that the lyric is, "or are we dancer?" A reference to a Hunter S. Thompson quote.
Brandon is singing 'are we human or are we dancer'. their new album is awesome, I love The Killers.
Thanks for sharing Sia, I've never really listened to her before now I want to hear it all. :-)
funny thing happened to me on my way to dream land last night: I, too, fell asleep with Dave Letterman on and heard the same Sia song. However, in my lasagna induced coma I could have sworn that Sia was actually Dido singing. I went to youtube and sure enough, if you punch in DIDO WHITE FLAG DAVID LETTERMAN you will get something approximating the voice of Sia. What is up with these wispy ingenue voices of late? Is it the precarious economic times that make us more receptive to these lullabys? AC/DC is going on the road with their new album. I say it is time to channel their engery for 2009.
Oh, okay, Sia was cute at the end.
this was an amazing video. i loved Sia's last album.
thank you for sharing.
Sia is fabulous, so excited to find a new Australian, I live in Paris so some things miss the filter. Thanks Carla
sorry to burst your bubble, but in the new issue of nylon magazine (lily allen on the cover), they have a feature on the killers. one of the band members comments on how sometimes even he doesn't understand the lyrics that the lead singer comes up with. i don't have it in front of me right now, but the quote from him is something like: "'are we human or are we dancer?' what the fuck does that mean?"
the person who commented above on the hunter s. thompson quote is correct - that's also referenced in the article.
I never heard of Sia till I saw your post. Well after watching I went out and bought the album and must say I LOVE her music. Thank you for sharing that video!
I absolutely ADORE Sia
I like how Sia is so visually artistic with her signing.
