Picture of the Day!

Piotr Redlinski for The New York Times

The Gay Pride Parade in New York is obviously quite a photogenic affair, but kudos to The New York Times for publishing this picture of Marlo Fisken, 27, showing off her pole dancing skills! And kudos to Redlinski for getting such a great shot. Other papers published pictures of Fisken but none from this angle and certainly none with quite the same snap!

I just did a blog post with some of my gay pride parade pictures but none of them are as cool as these.

As a sports photographer who mostly works with longer lenses, this seems like the obvious shot to me. What catches my attention most in this photo are the photographers who are taken shots from such terrible angles.

I knew it was a great shot as soon as I saw it and it filled me with envy!

No offense Frank, but who's to say those are "terrible angles?"

They're not shooting boxing, or Nascar. I don't think there's a "right angle," as there are no real right angles in photography.

For the record, this is an exquisite image. And I'm sure a lot of those hardworking photojournalists on the "wrong" side of this frame also made some interesting work.

Trust me, there are no bad angles when shooting Marlo!
