Via Conscientious and I Like This Art.
Mandy Corrado is a 28 year old former art student who began working as a figure model in her senior year at The Art Institute of Chicago. One day she had the idea to create her own art from the process and began to bring a gilded mirror and a camera into the studios where she would snap herself and whoever was in her view during the few breaks given to the model.
The results, as you can see, are intriguing and wholly original - a sly inversion of the conventional view. That's Mandy, below, in close-up and the rest are from her series "Reflections of the Muse". You can see even more here on her own website, and read her artist's statement.

What a great concept. I love them. The reflection looks like an old oil painting, especially with the style of that mirror frame!!
What's this obsession in photography with thin, good looking nude white chicks. It's so doooone... so boooring. Come on people, there's nothing edgy about it. I've done better work shooting myself in a bathroom mirror.
Great idea. Subject/object. Passive with agency. A piece of the furniture and yet the only thing you see. Excellent!
P.S. You can't forward a link to this blog on facebook! I got a warning for trying to share this with my live-drawing class..
i love #3 and #4.
The image of the model, within a reflection that looks like a painting, in an art studio where paintings of such model are being created in the very pose shown via the image in the mirror, thus giving us the viewpoint of the working artists as well as the posing model, and even gives us a glimpse of the potential one of those works in progress could become via the painting-like quality of the mirrored image...is extremely edgy and smart! If ALL the first commenter can see is a "thin, good looking nude white chick," I'm very grateful to see Mandy Corrado's work through my eyes and not theirs.

@N: She's thin?
The first thing I thought when I saw the first photo was, Oh. Cool. A curvy, voluptuous girl.
And I'm Black.
At any rate, I like this work. Quirky and original. Never in my few years as a figure model did doing such a thing ever occur to me.
She is one of the best photographers I have ever had the priveledge of taking my photo. She has amazing ideas for natural light and uses her lense well. I will sit for a portrait anytime.

Hopefully she'll take more photos of my baby.
