Print Giveaway #3

For my third print giveaway, my friend Leslie Simitch - recently featured in the Top Ten - sent us the original file from which to print up a 13 x 19 inch print of the her wonderful picture (above) taken just last month in Rome. And now a signed print is waiting to be sent to the lucky winner.

As usual just post a comment over the next week and a winner will be randomly selected.

Good luck!

i like both this picture and the other picture taken by Leslie Simitch you posted in your Top Ten #7 post. they both remind me of "blinding love", and of how one has the ability to ignore the rest of the world when one is in love. i feel kind of lovesick now. =\

forgive me, but i don't see what is exceptional about this photo.

To Anon (above):

If it doesn't work for you, that's life. No single picture will ever speak universally to everyone. But for me it's the light, the color, the gesture, the moment, and most of all the flowered skirt that sets up a visual pun with the flowerless tree.

It also probably helps to be a little bit romantic ...

And the colors of the skirt are right out of the brick wall.

or vice versa.

Leslie's work is a lot about people being shaped by spaces. I like that the woman's face isn't visible and that the interaction between them is undefined. The drama is there but it's beneath the surface.

i'm a newcomer to this site and have effectively wasted an entire morning poring over it -- except that i don't see it as a waste. in fact, it's remarkably inspiring and lovely. and will be one of my new morning blog stops!

thanks!

It breaks all the rules, FWIW, of everything I learned in Photog 101...
out of balance, poorly composed, distracting... well, OK the lighting is nice... that being said, I cannot stop admiring the image.. I am there seated, embracing, feeling now more warmth in front of me than on my back as the sun begins to set on a chilly wintry afternoon...
