My husband and I thought it was a clever contemporary interpretation with a light opera presentation. As for the music, it was fun. I do think you need to see the images while you listen to the music if you are a traditional Beatles fan.California Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12582691517303132274noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5777454663138389757.post-45722741811874890802009-03-22T21:00:00.000-04:002009-03-22T21:00:00.000-04:00I hated most of Across the Universe's interpretati...I hated most of Across the Universe's interpretations of the Beatles songs and the plot line was thinner than Mama Mia's, which I thought was impossible.

In my opinion, if you're going to cover a popular song, especially an iconic and beloved Beatles song, you've got to put enough of a spin on it so that you can distinguish and separate yourself from the original and turn it into your own--otherwise why bother. The songs were done great the first time around, we don't need any more weak imitations.

I thought the cinematography was the most interesting aspect of the movie and I do give it high marks for being experimental, but I thought the songs just fell flat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5777454663138389757.post-69707442782603797242009-03-20T20:57:00.000-04:002009-03-20T20:57:00.000-04:00i totaly agree with you, you read my mind, i have ...i totaly agree with you, you read my mind, i have the same feelings for this movie, specialy for the music.Melissa~https://www.blogger.com/profile/14401986421640995977noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5777454663138389757.post-18352106430480406022009-03-15T14:07:00.000-04:002009-03-15T14:07:00.000-04:00The auto-tune makes me itch. The auto-tune makes me itch.radiolariathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17773737956107402150noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5777454663138389757.post-57503962830593476552009-03-15T10:42:00.000-04:002009-03-15T10:42:00.000-04:00I did enjoy the film although not near as much as ...I did enjoy the film although not near as much as I was expecting to.

I wish they did more reinterpreting of the songs, as they did in...say Moulin Rouge with 'Roxanne.' It also brings the relevance of the Beatles to a new generation.Melindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03589392412053641845noreply@blogger.com
